About me

Op. Dr. Elif Gülşah Diktaş

After graduating from Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine, I completed my residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Ankara Etlik Zübeyde Hanım Women's Health Training and Research Hospital. I carried out my compulsory state service at Erzurum Nene Hatun Maternity Hospital from 2014 to 2016, and worked as a specialist at Etlik Zübeyde Hanım from 2016 to 2021. Since 2021 I have been seeing patients at my private practice in Ankara.

I approach women's health across the different stages of life: pregnancy and childbirth, reproductive health, gynaecological conditions, menopause and healthy ageing. I completed certified training in assisted reproductive techniques at Gülhane Training and Research Hospital and laparoscopic surgery training at IRCAD in France. I hold the Ministry of Health approved Certificate in Medical Aesthetics and Cosmetic Procedures.

I have been a co-author of research published in national and international peer-reviewed journals. In my practice I put scientific accuracy, patient safety, individual needs and natural results first.

Every woman is different, and every treatment is personal.

Frequently asked questions

Before your visit

Pregnancy and childbirth

My pregnancy test is positive. When should I come for my first visit?

At around weeks 6–8, counted from the first day of your last period, the pregnancy sac and heartbeat can be seen on ultrasound. If you have bleeding or severe abdominal pain, come in without waiting.

How often will I need check-ups during pregnancy?

Usually once a month in the early months, every two weeks after week 28 and every week in the final weeks. High-risk pregnancies may need more frequent visits.

How is the decision made between vaginal birth and caesarean section?

The type of birth is decided together, taking into account your and your baby's health, how the pregnancy progresses and any previous births. The decision is made individually for each pregnancy, based on examination findings.

IVF

When should we seek a fertility assessment?

We recommend coming in if pregnancy has not occurred after one year of regular intercourse if you are under 35, or after six months if you are 35 or over. If you have irregular periods or a known condition, you can come earlier.

Which tests are done before IVF?

For the woman, hormone tests, an AMH test showing ovarian reserve and an ultrasound; for the man, a semen analysis. Further tests may be requested to assess the uterus and fallopian tubes.

Does my partner need to come to the IVF consultation?

Yes. Fertility is assessed for both partners together. At the first consultation we discuss both partners' medical history and plan a semen analysis.

Cosmetic and aesthetic gynaecology

Who is genital aesthetics suitable for?

Suitability depends on your complaint, your expectations and the examination findings. Before any procedure we discuss the options, possible risks and the recovery process in detail.

Menopause

What are the symptoms of menopause, and when should I see a doctor?

Hot flushes, night sweats, sleep problems, mood changes and vaginal dryness are common symptoms. If symptoms affect your daily life or your periods have become irregular, we recommend an appointment.

Can everyone use hormone therapy during menopause?

No. Hormone therapy is assessed according to your age, your symptoms and risk factors such as a history of breast cancer or blood clots. Non-hormonal options are available when hormone therapy is not suitable.

Gynaecology

How should I prepare for my first gynaecological examination?

Bring the date of your last period, a list of any medication you take and any previous test results. The examination is more comfortable outside your period, but do not wait if you have an urgent complaint.

How often should I have a smear test?

The general recommendation is regular screening from the age of 21. The right interval for you is set during your examination, based on your age and previous results.
